Maintenance, Inspection & Repairs
Regular maintenance of equipment and seating is essential to maximizing the useful life of products and is a key way to avoid breakdowns that can be untimely and expensive to fix. Our company recommends annual inspections of athletic equipment and seating systems to safeguard against costly repairs and potentially hazardous conditions created by malfunctioning or damaged products.
To meet this need, we employ skilled mechanics that have expertise in assessing and repairing athletic equipment and seating systems. Our company also maintains relationships with OEM part suppliers, which allows us to perform maintenance and repairs on products, regardless of make or manufacturer.

It is vitally important to have thorough inspections of your seating every year. A very bad situation would be for the telescopic bleachers to not open right before a big game. Instead of having 500 gate receipts, you accrue no revenue. An even worse situation would be if bleachers collapsed or malfunctioned in some way, and someone was injured. At TJ Distributors, we try to prevent all of these problems. We can schedule annual inspections for the same time every year. Our inspection mechanics are as experienced and knowledgeable as our master installation technicians. TJ Distributors has the most reliable staff in the region.
A professional engineer or architect should inspect the bleachers every couple of years. When we schedule our internal inspections, we will make sure every bolt is tightened. Anchors, rivets, caps, bolt connections all need to be checked during routine maintenance. Ramps, platforms, stairs- everything under the sun should be subject to inspection. Row locks need to be inspected for telescopic bleachers. The entire system will not work properly if a row closes before it should or in the wrong order. Cantilever frame arms need to be cared for as well, as they can get bent or sag. This will of course endanger the viability of the whole structure. Try to prevent spectators from sitting on the top row if bleachers are closed. Warning labels or signs would be a great idea.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has created regulations for consistent and regular inspections and maintenance of bleachers. There is approximately one death per year from people falling through or off bleachers, so it is imperative for every organization that has bleachers to follow these regulations. One good method of preventing accidents is installing guardrails. This works two-fold, as it will prevent a fall in most cases, but also alerts everyone that the bleachers are fully opened and safe to sit on.
Although our products are top of class and extremely safe, durable, and reliable, there are times that repairs need to be made. We can handle this for you as well. Many times, replacing a part or material is much safer and more cost-effective than trying to “fix” a part or material. In the end, TJ Distributors has the most experienced team in the region for maintaining and inspecting quality bleacher systems. It is great to have a good-looking, appealing seating design. It is a necessity to keep it safe.
